• ISU tennis season ends — At Ann Arbor, Mich., the Indiana State women’s tennis team is on their way home after a dismal performance during the second day of the ITA Midwest Regional on Saturday.

“We just did not show up to play in this tournament,” Malik Tabet Indiana State women’s tennis coach said. “We were not focused and we did not compete well. It was really strange.”

Seniors Jennifer Migan and Joanne Schickerling dropped their second doubles match of the season Saturday morning, falling to Kali Krisik and Colleen Rielley of Notre Dame 5-8 in the Round of 16 of the doubles Main Draw at the ITA Midwest Regional.

In singles, freshman Sarah Meghoufel met Notre Dame’s Kali Krisik in the opening round of the singles main draw and was defeated 6-3, 6-3.

Schickerling also lost her first round match in a three-set marathon to Iowa’s Milica Veselinovic, the ninth seeded player in the singles Main Draw. Schickerling won the first set in a tie breaker 7-6 (10-8) but then dropped the next two sets 4-6, 1-6.

Migan won her opening round match over Noriko Saruta of Western Michigan 6-2, 6-2 but then dropped her second round match 3-6, 4-6 to Katie Potts of Notre Dame.

“We have been working on things to improve our technique,” Tabet said. “I really thought that we would be ready to play. We are not where we need to be. We will come back and work hard on the techniques we need to get better for January.”
