Pedestrian struck crossing Wabash Avenue

TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute woman was taken to Union Hospital after being struck by a vehicle in the 3300 block of Wabash Avenue about 1 p.m. today.

Terre Haute Police Chief John Plasse said the woman had exited a city bus on the south side of Wabash Avenue. While waiting for traffic to clear, a  motorist stopped and motioned for the woman to cross the street.

The woman, however, did not see another approaching vehicle, which had not stopped, and she was struck, Plasse said.

“It does not appear to be any serious injury. There are no broken bones, but complaints of pain,” the Chief said.

The name of the woman is not yet available.
