BRAZIL —
Two Brazil men have been arrested on allegations of rape involving minor females, and the Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that more arrests are anticipated.
John Clark, 19, was arrested on charges of rape, trespassing and residential entry.
Brett Maesch, 20, was arrested on charges of rape, child molestation and sexual misconduct with a minor.
The sheriff’s department reports that dispatchers received a call Friday morning about a man sleeping inside the Bowling Green Methodist Church. A deputy arriving at the scene saw a man run out of the church. The man was located at the town park and identified as Clark.
Investigators were told that Clark and other people had been going into the church in previous nights to sleep and steal food.
As police continued the investigation, a 15-year-old girl told police that Clark had raped her at a Brazil residence in October. A second juvenile girl also told police she had been raped and identified the suspect as Maesch. That incident allegedly occurred in an abandoned residence in Brazil.
Child Protective Services was called to assist in the investigation, and the information was forwarded to the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.
Additional charges could be filed against both Maesch and Clark.
