Interstate 70 resurfacing project slated to begin Monday

TERRE HAUTE — Motorists traveling Interstate 70 in Vigo and Clay counties should prepare for lane restrictions starting Monday.

The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced a patch-and-resurface project from Indiana 46/U.S. 40 to Indiana 59.

The 12-mile project runs from the east side of Terre Haute on Interstate 70 to the interchange at Indiana 59 south of Brazil.

The $9.9-million project was awarded to Wabash Valley Asphalt. A five-mile work zone will have the interstate down to one  lane, 11 feet wide. This project is scheduled for completion on June 30. Contstruction will not continue through the winter months, typically from the end of November until the first of April.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, go online to www.in.gov/indot or www.trafficwise.in.gov.
