First Financial Bank opens 4 banking centers

TERRE HAUTE — With the opening of four banking centers in Evansville, Princeton, Washington and Vincennes, First Financial Bank has, during the past three months, expanded its community banking presence in southern Indiana.

First Financial Bank values its existing relationships with customers in these four important locations and now can provide even better service to them and others through these new banking centers, said Donald E. Smith, chairman of the board and president of First Financial Corp.

Each new banking center is in an existing structure that was acquired by First Financial Bank. Grand opening ceremonies occurred at each new location on Nov. 13.

New locations include Washington Banking Center, 300 E. Main St., opened Aug. 13; Princeton Banking Center, 1501 W. Broadway, opened Sept. 4; and Evansville Banking Center, 12600 N. U.S. 41, opened Oct. 1.

In Vincennes, the Oct. 15 opening of the Vincennes Main Street Banking Center, 619 Main St., provides a second facility for customers of First Financial Bank’s existing Vincennes Sixth Street Banking Center, 2707 N. Sixth St.

Twenty-five new staff members were hired to provide service at the new locations. Lobby and drive-through hours, Monday through Saturday, at each facility vary. In Washington, a new drive-through will be constructed and a full-service ATM will be installed at a later date.

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies at each new banking center featured ribbons of $1 bills. A $100 cash-equivalent of that ribbon was donated to a nonprofit organization in each community: Albion Fellows Bacon Center, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate domestic and sexual violence, Evansville; Salvation Army, serving Gibson and Pike counties, Princeton; Knox County Humane Society, Vincennes; and PowerHouse of Washington, Washington.

First Financial Corp. is the holding company for First Financial Bank N.A. in Indiana and Illinois, The Morris Plan Co. of Terre Haute and Forrest Sherer Inc. in Indiana.

The corporation provides a financial services delivery system consisting of 68 banking centers in east-central Illinois and west-central Indiana, Morris Plan Co., multiple insurance offices and more than 100 FirstPlus ATMs.

More than 1,000 people are employed through First Financial facilities in Indiana and Illinois.
