Police seek assistance in death investigation

BRAZIL — Police are investigating an apparent shooting death of a 33-year-old male in Clay County south of Brazil.

The Indiana State Police, in a news release issued Wednesday, are looking for people living near the 7500 block of North Indiana 59, about a mile south of Brazil, who might have noticed anything out of the ordinary at a residence on the west side of the road on Tuesday evening.

The male was discovered deceased on the back deck of the home late Tuesday night. He had suffered what police believe was a gunshot wound.

State police said foul play is not suspected at this time, and that an acquaintance of the dead man had reported in a 911 call that the man seemed despondent in recent days and that “all communications with the acquaintance had stopped.”

ISP detectives and the Clay County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call ISP Detective Sam Stearley at (765) 653-4114 or Clay County Sheriff’s Detective Jerry Siddons at (812) 446-2535, extension 5.
