City plans for soldier’s funeral route

Volunteers needed Sunday to place flags along roads

BRAZIL — Volunteers are needed Sunday to place U.S. flags along the funeral route for fallen Indiana National Guard Spc. Arronn Fields, killed May 21 while on patrol in Afghanistan.

Anyone wishing to help place the flags along the route is asked meet at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Northview High School parking lot.

“We could use anybody and everybody who would like to do this for Spc. Fields,” said Vanita Moore of the Moore Funeral Home in Brazil, which is handling funeral arrangements.

The flags are being provided by Larry “The Flag Man” Eckhardt, an Illinois man who has helped honor fallen troops all across the country.

Fields’ body is expected to arrive at 10:45 a.m. today at the Terre Haute International Airport-Hulman Field. The body will then be transported to Moore Funeral Home.

The motorcade will travel west from the airport on Indiana 42, north on Indiana 46/U.S. 40 then east on U.S. 40 to Brazil.

Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington St. in Brazil. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Nazarene, 1102 E. National Ave., Brazil. Burial will take place at Clearview Cemetery with full military honors.
