Couple seeks help after theft of photo albums, scrapbooking supplies

TERRE HAUTE — The recent theft of family photo albums and scrapbooking supplies from a vehicle at a Terre Haute hotel has caused an Elkhart couple to ask for help from Terre Haute residents.

Craig Johnson asks that anyone who finds or possesses albums, photos or other items that might have been taken in the Jan. 20 theft to contact him at the e-mail address, likeitback@gmail.com.

“We were coming back from vacation in Texas, and stopped overnight at the Comfort Inn, and the next morning we found the stuff taken from our vehicle,” Johnson told the Tribune-Star.

It appears the suspects parked next to targeted vehicles, he said, taking items from the bed of a pickup truck, and breaking out the right rear window of Johnson’s Trailblazer. The thieves took four suitcases and two smaller bags that contained scrapbook albums, including the wedding album of Johnson and his wife, who have been married for 34 years.

“There were scrapbooks of our kids growing up. And some of our family haven’t seen the photos of our newest grandson yet,” he said.

The bags also contained almost all of his wife’s scrapbooking supplies.

Johnson is offering a reward for the return of the items. He also suggests that anyone who finds albums or photos discarded in trash cans or Dumpsters might salvage them in case the photos belong to his family.

He set up the e-mail account to accept any tips or information on getting the items returned.
