Police arrest three people after alleged incident following party

TERRE HAUTE — Police arrested a trio of people Sunday, all accused of battery in connection with an incident that sent a Terre Haute man to an Indianapolis hospital.

Arrested were Jesse Norton, 20, of Marshall, Ill., David Rayhel, 21, and Britanie Parrish, 20, both of Terre Haute.

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about 3:15 a.m. Sunday in northern Vigo County. Upon arrival, deputies found a 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both from Terre Haute, lying beside a roadway.

According to a sheriff’s department news release, the victims of the alleged battery had been at a party on Rio Grande Road when an altercation took place. They left the party together and were followed by the three suspects in the case, police said. The chase ended near a cornfield where Rayhel, Norton and Parrish allegedly battered the two victims, according to the release.

The 26-year-old man received serious injuries and was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital where he was listed in fair condition Sunday night. The woman received less severe injuries, according to police.

The three suspects were located later Sunday near 13th and Poplar streets by sheriff’s deputies with the help of Terre Haute and Indiana State University police. They were taken to the Vigo County jail.

Norton and Rayhel are facing felony allegations of battery resulting in serious bodily injury. Parrish is facing a misdemeanor battery allegation, police said.
