TERRE HAUTE —
A member of an Indianapolis motorcycle gang who delivered methamphetamine to a Terre Haute dealer has pleaded guilty to drug charges in federal court.
James Taylor, 35, faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and distribution of methamphetamine.
Taylor was arrested Aug. 4, 2011 as part of an investigation into the criminal activities of the Sons of Silence gang. Twelve people were indicted in that investigation, including four men from Terre Haute.
Federal investigators report that large quantities of methamphetamine were obtained from a supply source in Michigan, then transported to Indianapolis. Taylor, also known as “Pork Chop,” has been described by investigators as the most prominent of the Sons of Silence meth distributors in Indianapolis, and was the source of the meth that was sent to Terre Haute.
According to U.S. Attorney Joseph Hogsett, the criminal activities of the Sons of Silence members were both serious and diversified, as the criminal conduct involved methamphetamine trafficking, money laundering, firearms offenses, and stolen motorcycles.
A trial for other defendants in the case is set for June 11.
