Hunger Action Month breakfast Sept. 13 in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank, a member of Feeding America, joins with its partner hunger relief agencies to ask everyone in west-central Indiana to play a role in fighting domestic hunger throughout September — Hunger Action Month.

Everyone in the Terre Haute community is invited free of charge to the Hunger Action Month breakfast at 8 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Catholic Charities Foodbank at 1356 Locust St. A program with special speakers will begin at 9:30.

Hunger affects communities all across the country — rural, urban, and suburban. In Vigo and surrounding counties, one in six individuals struggle with hunger. The problem is closer than one might think, but so is the solution.

Throughout the campaign, Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank will call on individuals to take action. As a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest emergency food network, it has teamed up with celebrities to tell the real stories of those struggling with hunger.

The nation continues to recover from a recession, and Feeding America and Catholic Charities are working harder every day to assist individuals and their families right here in west-central Indiana in these tough economic times. Whether it’s by advocating and raising awareness, making donations, or giving of one’s time and energy, everyone can play a role in ending hunger during Hunger Action Month.
