Victim identified in fatal motorcycle crash

TERRE HAUTE — A Brazil man died of blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen when his motorcycle was struck by a truck at 13th Street and College Avenue late Wednesday.

Jessie Hoke, 22, had riden his motorcycle into the intersection when he was struck broadside by a truck driven by Martin J. Cenfitelli, 22, of Terre Haute.

Witness reported that the truck ran the red light. Cenfitelli apparently fled the scene in his truck, but was arrested soon after the accident when traffic was stopped by a train.

Cenfitelli appeared Thursday morning in Vigo Superior Court 5 where probable cause was found for his arrest on two charges of driving while intoxicated causing death, a class-B felony and a class-C felony, as well as leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a class-C felony.

Cenfitelli is being held in the Vigo County Jail with bail set at $75,000 with no 10 percent allowed. He is to return to court Tuesday for filing of formal charges.

The autopsy on Hoke was conducted Thursday morning by forensic pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
