City law firm offering free cab rides tonight

TERRE HAUTE — Local law firm Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin is offering free taxi rides home for those who have had too much to drink tonight.

Thanksgiving Eve, the laywers said in a press release, has become one of the busiest drinking nights of the year.

And so, its Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program will be available in the Terre Haute and West Terre Haute area from 8 p.m. today to 3 a.m. Thursday.

To request a free cab ride home, call Yellow Cab of Terre Haute at (812) 478-5000 and tell it Fleschner Law is paying for your safe ride home.

“Think twice about getting behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking,” attorney Steve Fleschner said. “Don’t let yourself, or someone you love become another statistic.”

Cab rides will be provided from a bar or restaurant to an individual’s residence — not to other drinking locations.

Because of the high number of requests, rides cannot be guaranteed for everyone who calls; however, every attempt will be made to accommodate all requests, the attorneys said. Cab drivers also have the right to use their discretion when accepting fares.

Those seeking rides are advised to call at least a half hour before they would like to be picked up.

Safe and Sober is among Fleschner Stark Tanoos & Newlin’s community projects and events that recognize the importance of giving back to the community. The law firm established Community 1st, a comprehensive plan that encompasses all of the law firm’s community and service efforts. To learn more about Community 1st, visit www.fstncommunity1st.com.
