A Terre Haute man pleaded guilty to arson Thursday for a July 2010 fire
Warren Bradford, 21, admitted in Vigo Superior Court 3 that he set fire to a mattress in the unoccupied house in the 1000 block of Fourth Avenue at the request of his girlfriend.
Bradford was arrested in January after an investigation revealed that witnesses saw Bradford leaving the home on the night of the fire. Bradford and his girlfriend had been evicted from the home.
The incident on July 8, 2010, caused an estimated $2,500 damage to the home, resulting in the class-D felony arson charge.
The plea agreement calls for a three-year prison sentence, with all but 18 days suspended to formal probation. Bradford must perform 80 hours of community service, pay restitution and attend anger management classes through Family Service Association, according to the plea agreement.
