13th Bridal Showcase features 46 vendors

Special, secret performance planned during this year’s event

TERRE HAUTE — The 13th Annual Wabash Valley Bridal Showcase will span more than five hours Sunday at the Hulman Center.

The showcase has 46 vendors that annually “attracts close to 200 brides, who also come with their moms, grooms to be and bridal party,” said Tina St. Clair, advertising director at the Tribune-Star, a sponsor of the event.

Lucia’s Bridals and Jim’s Tux Shops are title sponsors this year. A bridal runway show, from 3 p.m. to  4 p.m., will feature female models, plus some unique male models, said Jim Arnett, owner of Jim’s Tux.

“We will have police officers as models. We have four detectives and one K9 officer from the city of Terre Haute, three Vigo County deputy sheriffs and two Indiana State Police officers,” Arnett said.

“We call it the hip hop cops,” he said. “It will be a lot of fun. We have 30 different tuxedo styles, with three shown per model. Plus there will be a fantastic performance at the end by the models. We don’t want to let the cat out of the bag, but we hope it will be a show stopper,” Arnett said.

During the runway show, 25 brides who pre-registered at www.tribstar.com, will be invited to take a ribbon from a cake. One of the ribbons will have a fake ring. That will then be turned in for a men’s wedding ring, valued at $1,500.

The showcase will feature more than 100 wedding outfits, plus door prizes, a flatscreen TV, and a $300 gift certificate to Tiers of Elegance.

“People can plan their wedding all in one location,” St. Clair said, including formal wear, food, music and flowers, as well as jewelry, cosmetics, limousines or tents for outdoor settings.

The Wabash Valley Bridal Showcase is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 at the door or $3 when pre-registered at www.tribstar.com. Ticket proceeds will be donated to the United Way of the Wabash Valley.
