TERRE HAUTE —
A Terre Haute man arrested for using brass knuckles to beat a victim during a robbery last year has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Richie Allen Johnson, 26, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery, a class-A felony, on Jan. 31 in Vigo Superior Court 3. He was sentenced Thursday by Judge David Bolk.
Johnson was arrested in September 2012, after Terre Haute Police responded Sept. 18 to a reported robbery at Dreiser Square where the alleged victim said he had been beaten by Johnson, who allegedly stole more than $300 and prescription pain medication from the victim.
The victim was able to reach some golf clubs and began to strike Johnson with a club to get him to leave. Johnson later showed up at an area hospital with a fractured skull, cuts and bruises, claiming that he was attacked by unknown assailants, but instead the victim identified Johnson as the suspect in the robbery
