TERRE HAUTE — A Riley man faces criminal charges after he allegedly struck another man in the head with a beer glass at a Terre Haute bar.
Thomas K. Campbell, 59, was arrested Saturday afternoon following an altercation at The Cabin at 1350
Hulman St.
Detective Michelle Barrett of the Terre Haute Police Department testified Monday morning in Vigo Superior Court 3 that Campbell swung a 16-ounce beer glass and hit a person in the left side of his face after the person asked Campbell to quiet down. The two men were allegedly sitting close to each other when the alleged victim, who was talking on a phone, asked Campbell to lower his voice, prompting the alleged attack.
Barrett said the victim had four separate cuts on the side of his face near his eye. He was initially taken to Regional Hospital but was transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis due to blood loss.
Campbell left the scene after the incident and was found by police walking along Seabury Avenue. He was arrested and taken to the Vigo County jail where his bail was set at $25,000, with no 10 percent allowed.
On Monday, Judge David Bolk said Campbell faces a preliminary charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury, which is a class-C felony punishable by two to eight years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. Campbell’s next court appearance is Monday.
