Woods seniors plan horseback caroling

ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS — Each year, the seniors, faculty, staff and special guests of the St. Mary-of-the-Woods College Department of Equine Studies go on a special ride around campus, usually late at night in the spring.

This year, the senior class decided they wanted to ride during the day and sing Christmas carols so, today, students will be decorating their horses and tack and inviting the campus community and others to enjoy the sound of jingle bells, horses’ hooves and holiday songs.

SMWC President David G. Behrs and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dottie King will join the seniors as they ride horseback and visit the various buildings on the college campus.

The tentative schedule is 10 a.m., depart the stables; 10:10 a.m., Owens Hall, 10:25 a.m., Hulman Hall (back); 10:40 a.m., Woods Daycare; 11 a.m., Le Fer Hall (front); 11:20 a.m., Library and Guerin; 11:35 a.m., Conservatory; 11:50 a.m., O’Shaughnessy. All times are approximate.

Senior riders include Mary Bungum, Lauren Eggleston, Katie Frerick, Brittany Gambill, Sarah Knisely, Ally Kralovansky, Melissa Madsen, Molly Migliaccio, Christina Ridgway, Jenifer Shetley, Tiffany Winhold and Lauren Wrzalinski.

For those visiting campus today, use extreme caution while driving around the horses and the SMWC riders, and slow down or stop as they pass.
