Parkinson’s disease speech set for Friday

TERRE HAUTE — An Indiana State University professor specializing in human muscular movement will address the Terre Haute Parkinson’s Disease Support Group on Friday.

Jolynn Kuhlman, assistant professor of physical education at ISU, will speak at the group’s monthly meeting, scheduled for 10 to 11 a.m. in Westminster Village at 1120 E. Davis Dr.

Kuhlman specializes in motor behavior and has researched visual perception. She came to ISU in 1987, and also has served as interim associate dean and interim dean of the School of Graduate Studies.

Parkinson’s disease affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans. It causes muscle rigidity, slow movement and tremors of the limbs. While no cure is known, treatments and medication can sometimes ease its effects and slow its progression.

For more information, contact the support group’s organizer, Loyal Bishop, at (812) 232-3207 or 239-1900.
