Three in Greene County arrested on suspicion of burlary

BLOOMFIELD — Police in Greene County arrested three people this week on suspicion of stealing from the home of a deceased person.

The Indiana State Police were called Tuesday to investigate an apparent burglary at the home of James Christenberry of Bloomfield. Working with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, state police soon learned that two people were booked into jail earlier that day after police responded to a call about a fight at a home neighboring Christenberry’s.

While the two were being booked into jail, Greene County Sheriff’s officials apparently discovered the two had items from the Christenberry home in their possession. Police then returned to the neighbor’s home and made a third arrest, according to a media release issued Thursday by the Indiana State Police.

Arrested were Michael L. Lane, 22, and Megan L. Lane, 20, both of Bloomfield. Also arrested was Wayne L. Goldsby Jr., 45, of Bloomfield. All three are facing allegations of burglary, a class-C felony, and theft, a class-D felony. Michael Lane also faces an allegation of criminal mischief, a class-B misdemeanor.

The Greene County prosecutor’s office assisted the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police in the case.
