TERRE HAUTE — An Indiana State University student is facing charges of theft and false informing after her arrest Wednesday morning.
ISU police report that freshman Kristen E. Doss, 18, allegedly took jewelry items from University Apartments on Sunday and those items were located at a local pawn shop.
Officer Christopher Gresham told Vigo Superior Court 1 Judge Michael Eldred that a pawn receipt for the items shows Doss received $50 cash for the items. Gresham stated that when Doss was questioned about pawning the items, she changed her story multiple times as to how she came to possess the jewelry and why she had pawned it.
Judge Eldred found probable cause for her arrest, appointed a public defender to handle the case, and set her next hearing date for Monday in Division 3 court. Doss was released from the Vigo County jail on her own recognizance.
