TERRE HAUTE — A man who allegedly assaulted a mental health worker is being held on $25,000 bail in the Vigo County jail.
William Duling, 30, of Terre Haute, was arrested Monday afternoon at Hamilton Center after the altercation, and he appeared in Vigo Superior Court 3 on Tuesday.
Detective Darren Long of the Terre Haute Police Department reported that Duling had went to the center after having suicidal thoughts, and had handed over a knife he had been using to scratch his wrists. Duling reportedly became upset when he was leaving the center because his knife was not returned to him. Duling allegedly fought with and injured a mental health worker, resulting in the class-D felony charge of battery on a health care worker.
Judge David Bolk found probable cause for Duling’s arrest and set a hearing Friday for formalization of criminal charges.
