TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man accused of calling police “Nazis” and threatening them has been released on bail from the Vigo County jail.
Michael Ambs, 35, appeared Tuesday in Vigo Superior Court 1 where Judge Michael Eldred agreed to reduce his bail to $10,000, with 10 percent allowed, provided that Ambs also enroll in the county’s Alcohol and Drug Program.
Ambs was arrested for intimidation and battery after Terre Haute Police responded Nov. 8 to a residence at Gilbert Avenue and Poplar Street on a report of a trash fire in an alley. Ambs reportedly came out of a nearby house shouting profanities, calling police “Nazis” and threatening them with death. As he was being taken into custody, Ambs allegedly resisted forcefully.
His past criminal charges include burglary and failure to appear in court.
