H1N1 vaccination clinics set for schools

TERRE HAUTE — The Vigo County School Corp. and Vigo County Health Department have scheduled several more H1N1 flu vaccination clinics in schools.

On Thursday, clinics are scheduled for Woodrow Wilson Middle School, Meadows Elementary, Sugar Grove Elementary and Davis Park Elementary.

On Friday, a clinic is planned at Honey Creek Middle School.

On Monday, clinics are scheduled for the following elementary schools: Dixie Bee, Riley, Hoosier Prairie, Lost Creek and Rio Grande.

Middle school clinics take place from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., while elementary school clinics are from noon to 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Students in grades 3 and under must have a parent accompany them to have the vaccine administered.

Any student having the shot after school also must have a legal guardian present.

The clinics are for students who are enrolled at the particular school where the clinic is being conducted. Exceptions to this must be approved by the Vigo County School Corp. as well as the Vigo County Health Department. Students with chronic illnesses who have not had the vaccine may contact the school district at rsa@vigoschools.org for directions.

“Schools have done a tremendous job of organizing for the smooth operation of the clinics,” said Ray Azar, director of student services.
