TH man faces multiple charges


TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man faces multiple criminal charges after police responded to a residence at Gilbert Avenue and Poplar Street.

Michael Ambs, 35, appeared in Vigo Superior Court 1 on Monday after where he was initially charged with intimidation and battery.

Terre Haute Police report that they responded early Sunday to a report of a trash fire in an alley. Ambs reportedly came out of a nearby house shouting profanities, calling police “Nazis” and threatening them with death. As he was being taken into custody, Ambs allegedly resisted forcefully. His past criminal charges include burglary and failure to appear in court.

Bail was set at $50,000, with no 10 percent allowed. Formal charges are to be filed Thursday morning.
