TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man was arrested after swinging a baseball bat at police at a residence in the 3100 block of North 16th Street.
Michael Wycoff, 38, appeared in Vigo Superior Court Division 1 on Monday where he was arraigned on charges of residential entry and possession of a controlled substance. Terre Haute Police Detective Josh Pirtle reported that police were called to the scene after a woman reported that she had come home and found Wycoff inside her residence. When she asked him to leave, he picked up a baseball bat and started swinging. When police arrived he tried to flee the scene on a bicycle.
Wycoff’s criminal history includes resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated and habitual traffic violator.
His bail was set at $25,000, with no 10 percent allowed. His next court date will be Thursday for formalization of charges.
