TERRE HAUTE — New cameras and audio equipment have been installed in the courtroom at City Hall.
The new equipment will allow for the audio and video recording of Terre Haute City Council meetings. Those meetings eventually will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable television, said Brad Speidel, director of the City of Terre Haute’s department of Information Technology.
The new equipment was tested for the first time Thursday evening during the City Council’s “sunshine” meeting.
“I think this is a very important process,” said council president Todd Nation, D-4th, speaking of the new equipment.
Two cameras have been mounted high on the walls of the courtroom. A city official from the Terre Haute Clerk’s Office, who already attends each council meeting, will operate the equipment, Speidel said.
Audio recordings of council meetings are available on the city’s Web site at www.terrehaute.in.gov, Speidel said.
