TERRE HAUTE — Public affairs officers with the Indiana National Guard issued a statement a short time ago related to the shooting rampage today at Fort Hood Army base in Texas. “As of now, the Indiana National Guard is not aware of any Indiana National Guard soldiers or airmen currently stationed or on duty at Fort Hood,” the release stated.

The latest casualty figures by the Army, as reported by the Associated Press, say 12 have been killed and 31 wounded. The Army also says one shooter has been killed and two others apprehended; all are U.S. soldiers.

The statement continued: “Our thoughts are with those soldiers and family members during this incident. We will continue to watch the events closely as they unfold.”
