VIGO COUNTY — The Indiana Department of Transportation will open the westbound lanes of I-70 between Darwin Road, Exit 3, and U.S. 41, Exit 7, late in the afternoon on Wednesday, weather permitting.
The westbound lanes have been closed since May 7 for bridge deck replacement and widening on both the Wabash River Bridge and the Bridge over Indiana 63.
The contractor plans to have both eastbound lanes open by Nov. 10 after removing the concrete median barrier wall.
This $12.7 million Major Moves project will continue next year during the construction season as crews work on the eastbound bridges. The eastbound lanes of I-70 will not close before April 1. Construction is scheduled for completion in November 2010.
