TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man faces a drunk-driving charge after his vehicle hit a house along Indiana 63 near Prairie Creek.
David J. Gossman, 60, was arrested Sunday evening after being treated for hip pain at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
Deputy Mike Anderson reported that Gossman was northbound in a 1993 Geo Tracker that went off the east side of the highway through two yards before hitting a tree and a house in the 15000 block of Indiana 63.
Anderson reported that he looked inside the vehicle and saw a partially full 24-ounce can of Budweiser beer sitting next to the driver’s seat. Gossman’s blood-alcohol content tested at .18 percent. In Indiana, .08 percent blood-alcohol content is considered legally intoxicated.
Gossman was booked into the Vigo County Jail, and faces a charge of driving while intoxicated in Vigo Superior Court Division 5. He was released on his own recognizance.
