Two arrested after active meth lab found on Gannon Road

TERRE HAUTE — The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department arrested two men at an active meth lab in a garage on Gannon Road near West Terre Haute early Thursday.

Russell Adkins, 41, of West Terre Haute, and Joshua Reedy, 21, of Terre Haute, were arrested around 5 a.m. after police were called to a residence on a report of suspicious vehicles.

At the scene, deputies reported a fog coming from the garage chimney, and after receiving permission from the property owner, opened the garage door where they found Adkins, Reedy and an active meth lab inside a garbage bag.

Both men were arrested and appeared by video at a hearing in Vigo Superior Court Division 6 where Judge Michael Lewis found probable cause for their arrest on a class-B felony charge of manufacturing methamphetamine.

The court noted that Reedy has a criminal history that includes obstruction of justice, possession of anhydrous ammonia, auto theft, resisting law enforcement, dealing methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.

Adkins has past arrests for fraud, theft, possession of meth, possession of chemical reagents, disorderly conduct, driving while intoxicated, habitual traffic violator and conversion.

Criminal charges against both men are to be formalized on Tuesday. They are being held in the Vigo County jail with bail set at $75,000, no 10 percent allowed.
