Terre Haute couple facing a combined 90 criminal charges

TERRE HAUTE — Ninety criminal charges are pending against a Terre Haute couple accused of 21 separate break-ins at storage units around Vigo County.

Ebb Howard and Heather Howard, both 29, also face drug charges and 21 counts of receiving stolen property related to break-ins that have occurred since January.

The couple were arrested Oct. 22 after Terre Haute Police served a search warrant for the Howard residence in the 1300 block South 25th Street. At that time, police found methamphetamine and a meth lab at the residence.

On Wednesday in Vigo Superior Court Division 3, prosecutors formally charged Ebb Howard with class-A felony dealing in methamphetamine (for possessing more than 3 grams of meth), class-B felony dealing methamphetamine and class-C felony possession of methamphetamine.

Heather Howard’s formal charges are possession of methamphetamine, possession of a single precursor (for having more than 10 grams of pseudoephedrine) and maintaining a common nuisance (at the South 25th Street residence). All are class-D felonies.

Judge David Bolk also read the 21 class-C felony burglary charges and 21 class-D felony receiving stolen properties charges each Howard faces. The storage units were located throughout the county, including locations on Wabash Avenue, U.S. 41, Haythorne Avenue, Park Avenue, Indiana 63, Indiana 46, Spring Clean Drive and the Village Quarter.

Future trial dates for Heather Howard will be set Thursday, while trial dates for Ebb Howard will be set Monday.

Bail for each is set at $75,000, with no 10 percent allowed.
