Two men face charges for allegedly breaking into vending machine

TERRE HAUTE — Two men face criminal charges after allegedly breaking into a vending machine at a Terre Haute hotel early Monday.

Nathan Ford, 28, of Indianapolis and Scotty Ford, 33, of Franklin were arrested at the Drury Inn after a guest at the Holiday Inn reported seeing the men break into a vending machine.

They appeared via video Monday afternoon in Vigo Superior Court Division 6.

According to police, the hotel witness said he heard a noise in the hallway outside his room around 12:30 a.m., and when he opened his door he saw two men standing in front of a pried-open vending machine. The men fled, and the witness reported the incident to the hotel’s front desk.

Police searching the area later spotted men matching the suspects’ descriptions in the Drury Inn parking lot. They were later identified by the witness as the suspects he saw at the vending machines.

A criminal history check revealed that Scotty Ford also is wanted on a warrant from Johnson County.

Both suspects are being held in the Vigo County Jail $10,000 bail, with 10 percent allowed. Their next court date is set for Thursday.
