TERRE HAUTE — The Wabash Valley Community Foundation Inc. has completed its final grant cycle for the current year. Funding allocations totaling $135,104.65 for the benefit of Vigo County were awarded to 19 agencies as follows:
n $1,500 — Ronald McDonald House: Vigo County Family Assistance
n $5,830 — Council on Domestic Abuse: case-management software
n $14,300 — Light House Mission: commercial-grade kitchen appliances
n $3,900 — Arts Illiana: computers
n $5,200 — Western Indiana Community Action Agency: rubber mulch for playground
n $4,000 — ISU – Blumberg Center: Autism Spectrum Disorder Series
n $15,000 — Terre Haute Symphony Association: free concert event
n $4,780 — 14th & Chestnut Community Center: projector screen and room divider
n $7,000 — Covenant Cooperative Ministry: forklift and concrete repair
n $3,000 — Terre Haute Children’s Choir: student scholarships
n $2,970 — Lifeline Youth & Family Services Inc.: computers for program support
n $1,500 — Terre Haute Human Relations Commission: MLK Youth Summit
n $30,000 — Sheldon Swope Art Museum Inc.: Education Center remodel and repair
n $15,000 — Riley Township Lions Club: vision screening equipment
n $500 — West Vigo Urban Connection (Families by Choice): literature / resources for clients
n $4,700 — Union Hospital Maternal Health Clinic: smoking cessation program
n $3,000 — North Little League: Community Building remodel
n $9,924.65 — American Red Cross of the Wabash Valley: van
n $3,000 — Vigo County Lifeline: community resource directory
The Community Foundation received 36 letters-of-intent, the first step in seeking funding support through the Foundation’s competitive grants program. Of those 36 letters (seeking a total of $302,945.65 in grant funding), 24 were invited to submit full proposals. The grants review committee received proposals seeking about $223,000 in funding support.
It is important to recognize these grants are funded by donors whose philanthropic desires are to enhance the quality of life in the Wabash Valley. The Community Foundation exists to serve its donors through the administration of the grants program.
