Brazil’s Moore crowned Rose homecoming queen

Johanna Moore of Brazil was crowned Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's homecoming queen by President Matt Branam during Friday night’s pep rally. She will reign over more than 20 events scheduled for today and will be introduced at halftime of the football game.

Moore, a junior applied biology major, is the daughter of Dan and Jenny Moore, and is a graduate of Northview High School. She was nominated by members of the Baur-Sames-Bogart residence hall, where she is a resident assistant. She is a member of Rose-Hulman’s Student Alumni Association, Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, Society of Women Engineers, Residence Hall Association and the Office of Admissions’ A-team. She is a dean’s list student and plans on furthering her education after graduation by obtaining a master’s degree in animal sciences.

Members of the queen’s homecoming court are Jennifer Fischer, a senior chemical engineering major from Cincinnati Bridget Goergen a senior chemical engineering major from Alexandria, Minn.; Sara Hong, a senior biomedical engineering major from Edmond, Okla.; Jessica McKinley, a senior mechanical engineering major from Hope; and Kate Sernett, a senior majoring in chemistry and biochemistry/molecular biology from Crystal Lake, Ill.

The homecoming queen contest was organized by the Blue Key Honor Society. Rose-Hulman will play the College of Mount St. Joseph in the homecoming football game, starting at 2 p.m. today at Phil Brown Field.
