TH woman charged for alleged intimidation, criminal recklessness

TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute woman who allegedly threatened a friend and fired a gun into the air is facing felony charges of intimidation and criminal recklessness.

Ashly Dawn Lee, 20, was charged in Vigo Superior Court Division 3 with intimidation, a class-C felony, as well as criminal recklessness, a class-D felony, and carrying a handgun without a license, a class-A misdemeanor.

Police report that on Sept. 17, Lee went to her friend’s house on South Eighth Street and ordered her friend to come out of the house to fight. The friend called police, and Lee fled. But on Sept. 18, Lee returned and asked the friend to fight her to “get it over with” and the friend threatened to call police. That is when Lee allegedly took out a small revolver, pointed it into the air and fired it once, saying she would find her friend “out on the street eventually.” Lee fled the scene, police report.

The victim later identified the gun, which came into police possession after having been used in another crime.

A trial date of March was set in the case by Judge David Bolk, who also appointed attorney Jim Organ as Lee’s public defender.

Lee is being held in the Vigo County jail with bail set at $35,000 with no 10 percent allowed.
