TERRE HAUTE — Clay County YMCA officials have named Terre Haute’s Eleanor Ramseier branch director of the new Vigo County YMCA.

Ramseier, a 20-year real estate professional, mother-of-three and runner, started at her new post Monday after being appointed to the post by Clay County YMCA CEO Deb Plummer and the Clay County Y’s board of directors.

The new Vigo County YMCA has a goal to open on May 21 if funding-raising and membership goals are met.

“We’re getting so many calls and so many people are so excited about the Y,” Ramseier said Friday. “It’s really cool to see how the public is getting behind this.”

Membership applications for the new Vigo County YMCA will be available beginning Tuesday at the YMCA facility in Fairbanks Park from 1 - 2 p.m. and from 4 - 6 p.m. Applications will also be available beginning on Tuesday at Baesler’s Market from 4 - 6 p.m. Other locations may also be established next week, Ramseier said.

Inquiries for memberships can also be sent by email to exec@vigocountyymca.org.
