PATRICKSBURG — State police say a 72-year-old western Indiana man fatally shot his daughter's father-in-law before being killed by her husband.
The confrontation happened about 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the Owen County community of Patricksburg after Jack Coons pointed a rifle at his daughter and then fired several shots into the ground. Police say the woman's father-in-law, 58-year-old Mark Fulk, came from his neighboring home and was shot by Coons.
Coons then fired several shots into his daughter's home, after which her husband shot him.
Coons died at Bloomington Hospital, while Fulk died at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis after being taken there by helicopter.
Police said circumstances of the confrontation remained under investigation, but that the shooting of Coons appeared justified.
