TERRE HAUTE — Indiana American Water will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. today in meeting room C at the main Vigo County Public Library at Seventh and Poplar streets in Terre Haute.
Company officials will present information, answer questions and obtain feedback from the public about five specific improvement projects in the Wabash Valley area.
1. The first project is a water main replacement along West Heap Street from Fourth Street to Eighth Street in Farmersburg. The project will replace approximately 1,300 feet of obsolete 6-inch water main with new 6-inch water main.
2. The second project is a water main replacement along Fourth Street from West Heap Street to West Cyrus Street in Farmersburg. This project will replace approximately 960 feet of obsolete 4-inch water main with new 8-inch water main.
3. The third project is a water main replacement along Ash Street from 19th Street to 23rd Street in Terre Haute. This project will replace 1,360 feet of obsolete 2-inch water main with new 8-inch water main.
4. The fourth project is a water main replacement along Highland Avenue from Woodside Way to the end of the cul-de-sac in Terre Haute. This project will replace approximately 1,280 feet of obsolete 2-inch water main with new 8-inch water main.
5. The fifth project is a water main replacement along Fourth Avenue from North 22nd Street to North 24th Street in Terre Haute. This project will replace approximately 640 feet of obsolete 2-inch water main with new 8-inch water main.
The new water mains are designed to enhance water pressure, water quality and fire protection capabilities.
The projects all will be funded through a loan from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Loan Program.
All projects are described in detail in the Preliminary Engineering Reports. Copies of each report are available for public viewing through Sept. 6 at Indiana American Water, 51 Locust St., Terre Haute.
