Sullivan County man faces multiple charges tied to stolen items

SULLIVAN — A Sullivan County man who had been arrested last week on suspicion of burglary faced new criminal charges Monday, according to an Indiana State Police news release.

Mark A. Dudley, 50, faces one count of burglary, a class-C felony; one count of residential entry, a class-D felony; three counts of possession of stolen property, class-D felonies; and felon in possession of a firearm, a class-D felony, ISP said.

A Sullivan County homeowner arrived home Friday on County Road 200 West and found a suspicious vehicle in the driveway. The homeowner sought a neighbor’s help and also dialed 911 while following the suspect vehicle. ISP troopers Brent Robinson and Brian Thomas said they found Dudley on southbound Indiana 63 at County Road 600 North. The troopers say they found items in Dudley’s possession that had been taken from the home on County Road 200 West, according to the news release. Over the weekend, troopers were able to potentially link Dudley to two other residential burglaries in the Sullivan County area. Troopers recovered  a stolen firearm, assorted jewelry and U.S. currency together valued at nearly $3,000.

The investigation was conducted by ISP trooper Mike Taylor. Assisting were ISP Sgt. Cory Robinson; Thomas and Robinson; Sullivan County Sheriff Brian Kinnett and deputy Bill Snead; and the Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office. Indiana State Police warn residents to be aware of the dangers of confronting burglary suspects and urged homeowners to call 911 immediately if they suspect a burglary in progress.
