Seelyville water customers asked to conserve water

SEELYVILLE — Seelyville Water customers are being asked to voluntarily reduce their usage to stave off potential problems.

The Seelyville Water Works issued a statement today, advising customers to voluntarily reduce activities such as yard watering and car washing. Water used for cooking and cleaning is exempted from the request, per the statement.

“This is not to say that we have a shortage of water in the ground, that is not the case, but we are concerned that usage at these continual high daily rates will reduce our storage levels too low in the case of an emergency such as a fire or other event,” the release states.

The reduction is expected to be temporary, and includes the Terre Haute subdivisions of Lincolnshire, Woodshire, Wyndham, Phoenix Hills, Robinwood and Deming Woods; the towns of Seelyville, Burnett and Sandcut; and the area of East Glenn.

More information will be updated as it becomes available.
