TERRE HAUTE —
An electrical short may have been the cause of a small fire about 12:50 p.m. today in a building near Seventh and Walnut streets.
The fire started in an attached garage behind a small beauty shop attached to a series of buildings that connects to Heinl's Flower Shop, said acting Batalian Chief James Jason Kane.
"It is not suspicious in nature and appears to be electrical but our fire investigaters are still conducting an investigation," Kane said.
Kane reports minor smoke and water damage. Five fire trucks responded to a call for the fire. Kane said the response was pro-active as there are several attached buildings. "We wanted to make sure it would not spread.
Engine No. 2 was the first on the scene and did a good job of containing it," Kane said.
