TERRE HAUTE —
The Vigo County YMCA will host an open house today marking the arrival of the Healthways SilverSneakers Fitness Program, a popular exercise program designed for older adults.
The event begins at 10 a.m. with a Silver Sneakers class.
At 11:15 a.m., Bob Hill, a Humana representative, will be on site to answer questions.
There will also be a Silver Sneakers class at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by a lunch-and-learn program at 11:30 a.m. Bring your own lunch and join Amanda Meyer from the Office of the Indiana Attorney General. Her topic will be “Don’t Be a Victim: Protect Yourself from Scams and Identify Theft.”
Those interested in SilverSneakers who cannot make it to the event can call or drop by during regular business hours to have questions answered.
The SilverSneakers Fitness Program, which is currently available in 50 states at over 11,000 fitness centers and YMCAs, offers a blend of physical activity, healthy lifestyle and socially oriented programming aimed at giving older adults greater control over their health.
