ISP interviews 80 in Merom homicide investigation

MEROM — Indiana State Police continue to investigate the shooting death of a Sullivan County man found dead in his remote farmhouse more than a week ago.

Police have interviewed 80 people so far in the death of Lowell Badger, 85, who was discovered shot to death in his bedroom on the morning of Dec. 8, according to ISP Sgt. Joe Watts. The interviews are not with suspects but with people who might have information that could help solve the case, he said.

No arrests have been made in the case and none is expected in the near future, Watt stated.

ISP detectives are working “feverishly on this case,” Watts stated in a news release issued Wednesday morning.

A $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case remains in place.

The shooting is believed to have occurred between 8 p.m. Dec. 7 and 9:23 a.m. Dec. 8 at Badger’s home, which is west of the town of Graysville in northern Sullivan County.

State Police believe a 46-inch Sony Bravia LCD television was taken from Badger’s home at the same time as the shooting.

Anyone with information that could help solve the case is asked to contact ISP First Sgt. Jeff Hearon or Detective Tom Hanks at the Putnamville State Police post at 765-653-4114. Tips may remain anonymous.

Tips may also be reported to Wabash Valley Crime Stoppers by calling 812-238-STOP (7867) or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.wvcrimestoppers.org.
