Jury hearing final arguments in Parke murder trial

ROCKVILLE — By 5 p.m., a Parke County jury is expected to begin deliberating a verdict in the murder trial of Jeremy Musall.

Closing arguments have now begun in Parke Circuit Court following a recess for lunch.

Judge Sam Swaim informed the jury that closing arguments and jury instructions could take about three hours this afternoon, and the jury has indicated it would like to start reviewing evidence today.

Musall, 28, of Cloverdale, has been charged with murder, burglary, rape and kidnapping in the Aug. 13 death of Joseph Snow at a mobile home near Rocky Fork Lake in southeastern Parke County.

Testimony about cell phone data – including text messages and sexually explicit photos – kicked off the second week of the trial in Parke Circuit Court.

Detective Chris Carter of the Indiana State Police at Putnamville gave a timeline for the messages, calls and photos extracted from the phones of Musall and his ex-girlfriend.

Detective Justin Cole of the Parke County Sheriff’s Department also testified about cell phone records, as well as a recorded phone call made Aug. 20 at the Parke County Jail between Musall and a female relative.

The jury heard a portion of the recorded call in which Musall states that he “did it,” in reference to Snow’s death.

Musall was arrested after police were notified that he was transporting Snow’s body in the trunk of his car, and that he intended to dump the body in Putnam County. He has been charged with two counts of felony murder, as well as two counts of burglary resulting in bodily injury, rape and kidnapping, all class-A felonies.
