Man on Indiana 63 bridge over Wabash halts traffic

TERRE HAUTE — Traffic on Terre Haute’s north side was temporarily blocked as authorities responded to a potential suicide attempt.

Personnel from the Terre Haute City Fire and Police departments were assisted by deputies from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department about 5:45 p.m. near the bridge at Maple Avenue and Indiana 63. Traffic was reportedly blocked about 10 minutes while responders searched for a man believed to be trying to jump from the bridge.

According to personnel at Vigo County’s central dispatch, the man was located and traffic resumed shortly.
