Dot Dot Dot, a high-energy Chicago rock band that’s recently made it to the Top 100 Billboard chart, will play two shows in Terre Haute this week.
The band will play a free-admission gig at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wolf Field on the Indiana State University campus. Then, at 10 p.m. Friday, Dot Dot Dot performs at the Ballyhoo Tavern at 900 Chestnut St.
Since appearing in the top 12 of FOX’s “The Next Great American Band” in 2007, the band has been touring the country. The group just released their second much-anticipated EP, “II.”
Dot Dot Dot formed in 2007 with the intention of blending original music with unique cover songs. The band describes their style as a union of rock elements cloaked in dance beats with synthy frills. During their time together, the band has played more than 400 shows and has sold thousands of CDs, all without record label support.
The new EP, “II,” will be the third album released by Dot Dot Dot. The album, which includes five new singles, manages to marry the full-force energy and edge of rock ’n’ roll with the catchiness of popular dance music. Radio single “Stay” recently made the Top 100 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.
Another of the band’s songs was licensed for Party City’s international ad campaign and can be heard in all of their TV commercials. The band’s previous EP charted on the CMJ Top 200 chart and was spun on more than 180 college radio stations nationwide.
