Tips leads to arrest from Most Wanted list

Woman found in secret compartment

TERRE HAUTE — An anonymous tip called in to the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post on Wednesday morning ultimately led troopers to a Vigo County residence where they arrested a woman listed on the Most Wanted of the Wabash Valley Crimestoppers.

Arrested was Jessica Rose Duke, 30, Terre Haute. Police said she was wanted on Vigo County Division 1 felony warrants for failure to appear in court on two charges: domestic battery in the presence of a child, a class-D felony, and receiving stolen property, a class-D felony.

Duke had been listed as wanted since Jan. 12, police said.

She was incarcerated in the Vigo County Jail on $25,000 cash bond on both charges.

The tip the Indiana State Police received was that Duke was staying at a boyfriend's residence in the 9700 block of Boatman Street near Fontanet in northeastern Vigo County.

After a brief search of the residence, troopers said they located Duke hiding in a secret compartment in the master bedroom. She was taken into custody without incident.

Anonymous tips from citizens play a vital role in law enforcement and many successes can be attributed to such tips, ISP said in a release. Tips can be called to  (765) 653-4114.

The Indiana State Police Post at Putnamville services the six-county area of Vigo, Clay, Parke, Vermillion, Sullivan and  Putnam.
