Brazil Rotary’s postponed Fourth of July “Gala Fireworks” set for Sunday

BRAZIL, Ind. — The Rotary Club of Brazil will finally get to present its postponed 77th Annual 4th of July Celebration “Gala Fireworks” display on Sunday after the Brazil Concert Band’s 2012 Grand Finale in Forest Park.

The community is encouraged to attend the final season BCB performance, starting at 7:30 p.m. in the bandshell of Forest Park, and then remain for the fireworks display starting shortly after the music on-stage ends. Rotary Club president Mary Jo Alumbaugh said the start time for the fireworks is tentatively from 9:30 to 9:45 p.m., depending when the concert concludes.

“This has been a most unusual year for Brazil’s 77th Rotary Club 4th of July Celebration. Given the circumstances of the recent drought and our county-wide burn ban finally being lifted, we are relieved to finally be able to present our 4th of July Fireworks display,” Alumbaugh said. “This will be a full-length show, just as it was originally scheduled with Aerial Arts Fireworks. The fireworks are still free to the public and a special patriotic salute to our Nation’s freedom, but it is two months later than planned.”

Typically the firework display is best viewed from the fairways of the Forest Park Golf Course in Brazil. The plan is to give concert-goers a few minutes to get from the bandshell to the golf course fairways. Spectators are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs and view fireworks from the fairways. No one is permitted to walk on or use any of the greens areas.

Because the Rotary Club of Brazil experienced the tragic loss of longtime Rotary club member Fred Adamson one day prior to the opening of the annual 4th of July event, the celebration and fireworks have been dedicated to his memory. Rotarian Fred Adamson, was a longtime Brazil businessman and the father of Aerial Arts Fireworks owner, Rotarian Mark Adamson.
