TERRE HAUTE —
CASA Kids has received a $6,000 grant to assist with daycare expenses for children in need.
Vigo County CASA Kids accepted the award from the Terre Haute Day Nursery Fund of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation on Jan. 12.
“In 2010, we received requests from CASA volunteers for daycare expenses and we simply did not have the funds to help,” said Monte Tosser, chairman of CASA Kids. “This grant will enable us to subsidize daycare expenses for families who are in need and for children who may greatly benefit from the experience of quality daycare.”
CASA Kids is a public charity that raises funds to help support Vigo County Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA recruits, trains and empowers community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children who are involved with the juvenile court system through no fault of their own. CASA Kids also provides these children the funding to participate in activities such as sports, music, camps and tutoring, and basic needs such as food, clothing, bedding, and uninsured medical, vision and dental needs. The list goes on.
The Terre Haute Day Nursery Award will allow CASA Kids to serve local children. The children served by CASA have experienced trauma, neglect and/or drug exposure.
To learn more about CASA Kids, call (812) 231-5658 or visit www.vigocounty.in.gov/casa.
